How We Brought Rimmel’s Glow To The Wild West
When Rimmel London briefed us to create an influencer mailer for their new “Multi Tasker Turbocharged Glow” collection, we knew we needed to deliver something bold, fun, and unforgettable. The collection itself was all about energy and versatility, so the mailer needed to embody that spirit.
The assets we received were a little ‘wild west’.
That sparked the thought: what if the mailer wasn’t just a box, but something truly unique? A statement piece influencers would want to photograph, share, and talk about?
The Idea Stage
We explored three concepts that tuned directly into the brief, balancing creativity with practicality.
Within two weeks, we had refined these into tangible proposals. One concept stood out immediately, one we hadn’t seen before – a cowboy hat mailer.
But not just any cowboy hat mailer.
A fully furnished cowboy hat, equipped with tassels, a marbled suede look with a supple feel and a liftoff lid to house the products.
Playful, stylish, and instantly tied to the theme.
Developing The Cowboy Hat Mailer
Once the budget was set, it was time to roll up our sleeves.
Over the next two weeks, we developed a plain prototype.
The challenge was to find a material that had the look and feel of felt but was still paper-based, sustainable, and environmentally conscious. The result was a gorgeously tactile paper ‘felt’ that looks authentic yet keeps the project eco-friendly.
At the same time, we fine-tuned the design to incorporate Rimmel’s brand assets, ensuring every detail enhanced the impact on the opener and their wider audiences.
This prototype was then sent to the team at Rimmel for them to experience and sign off. Once they were happy, we were ready to go!
From Prototype To Delivery
With the prototype approved, we moved into full production.
Each cowboy hat mailer was crafted by hand, filled with eight Multi Tasker Turbocharged Glow shades, carefully packed and sent to influencers. And all of this was delivered within four weeks.
The result?
A piece of packaging theatre that married storytelling with product experience and put Rimmel’s glow right under the spotlight.
